The external-facing walls have been lined with polystyrene though, which is new to me. Apparently it was done to help with insulation back in the day. Have you ever encountered that?

I've been wrongly judged plenty of times, even more so since I entered the DIY world.

I used to allow myself to get irritated by the antiquated point of view, how dare they think I'm not capable? But now, I've come to revel in the utter shock it brings.

When workies at the timber yard ask my boyfriend what he's building, I love to step in and whip the floor from under their feet, explaining that actually, I'm building a bed from scratch, or a sofa, or fitting out a closet.

Surprise them, gxrls. It feels like fire 🔥

I saw @eyeinthedetail create these pulls a while ago using copper tees and dowels, and I've been waiting for the perfect opportunity to try them for myself. This is it, and I LOVE them! Jessie has a how-to reel if you fancy giving it a go!

I thought I'd have to source more materials for the shelves but actually, I think leaving that space available for taller items will come in pretty handy 🥳

I made my own decorative moulding and saved a small fortune in the process 🤙🏻

Bringing these original Edwardian doors back to life has been a labour of love, but I didn't want it to be an expensive one.

Using an architectural router bit and MDF, I've been able to create the moulding from scratch instead of buying ready-made. It's taken many learning curves, patience and time, but I've gained a new skill and saved myself about 70% of the cost.

...Well, this is a dry fit, I just couldn't wait to show you them in place 😂 I still need to add magnets 🧲⚡ so they stay put, while making them completely removable if need be.

The shaker style and the DIY handles have come together so nicely, I'm finally free of my design decision paralysis and have a clear vision now of what the van is going to look like.

⚡ A quick guide to pocket holes! ⚡

I looove my pocket hole jig, it's great for concealing unsightly screws and allows me to create super-strong joins. But what if I told you that it sat in its box for about seven months before I got the courage to use it?!

Even with loads of guidance out there, there was something about the combination of different steps, paired with my newness to woodworking, that just felt overwhelming. It gave me the fear and, looking back now, that fear was truly unnecessary! Now, this little jig makes an appearance for most of my projects.

So here's a quick little how-to, in the hope that I can help alleviate any potential fear for someone else. It really is so easy once you get the hang of it, and will present so many opportunities for your builds.

I use the @kregjiguk K4 and absolutely love it, although there are other brands that do pocket hole jigs too. Happy jigging!
